MOTOVUN SHORTS – RULES AND REGULATIONS

FESTIVAL ENTRY REGULATIONS

ARTICLE I: ABSTRACT

Motovun Film Festival is a festival reflects diversity: esthetical, thematical and geographical. Its short program celebrates films standing out with their stories, warmth and innovation. MFF holds more than 30 open air screenings in Motovun, Buzet, Split and Rijeka.

From this 22nd edition, we proudly present that the festival’s short film programme has joined the EFA partner festivals network. In other words, festival winner will became a candidate for the European Film Awards in short film category.

ARTICLE II: PROFESSIONAL CATEGORIES

Motovun Shorts (international selection of fiction, documentary and animated shorts up to 20 min)

ARTICLE III: DATES

Festival dates: 22nd Motovun FF 23.-27.7.2019.

Entry Deadline:

  • Early bird (deadline 1.4. – submision fee 7$)
  • Regular (dedaline 15.5. submision fee 15$)
  • Extended (deadline 30.5. submision fee 30$)

*In order to promote reginal films MFF is waiving fees for films from: Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Slovenia and Monetenegro util regular deadline May 15th. .

ARTICLE IV: ELIGIBLE FILMS

  • Produced after January 1st 2108.
  • Shorter than 20 minutes.
  • Croatian premiere.

If accepted must be sent in a professional screening format: DCP, HD mp4 or ProRES.

The Festival Selection Committee has the right to refuse any prints which are in poor technical condition and which would therefore possibly present problems during screening. Works praising racism or pornography are not accepted.

ARTICLE V: SUBMISSION

All entries must be submitted with the following platforms:

ARTICLE VI: ACCEPTED SUBMISSIONS

All invited entries will be notified by June 27th.

As a part of the submission it is necessary to send Press kit for

  • At least 3 photos of stills
  • Director’s biography
  • Directors nationality
  • Poster – Info sheet with
  • Synopsis and production notes
  • Dialogue list (in English & original language of the film)

Your signature on entry form authorizes the festival to use the material for publication in the festival catalogue.

ARTICLE VII: SCREENINGS

The number of festival screenings a film receives is one or two. All selected films will be presented in their original version with Croatian & English subtitles.

If MFF decies to do a tour program with your film, you will be asked for approvement.

Films selected for MOTOVUN SHORT COMPETITION, will be screened on a free VOD PLATFORM reachable only in Croatia for a limited time, no longer than 60 days. The idea is to promote shorts through a free TV platform under the package called Motovun Shorts.

NOTE: We guarantee the platform will be accessible in Croatia only. Films will be unreachable outside our borders.

If you are strongly against this VOD screenings, please let us know it in your application.

ARTICLE VIII: SHIPPING

All films must be received by July 10th at the festival address. The cost of shipping copies and customs duties will be covered by sender. The Festival will pay the return of the copies. The package must bear the following caption: No commercial value for cultural purposes only. The films will be returned within two weeks after festival’s ending. Films can be delivered via digital download.

ARTICLE IX: AWARDS

  • PROPELLER MOTOVUN SHORTS – award for the best short in the Motovun Shorts selection, 1000 Euro award
  • Candidate for EFA short awards 2019

ARTICLE X: TRAVEL AND ACCOMODATION

Motovun Shorts selection participants are invited to attend the festival. The festival will cover accreditations for 2 filmmakers.

ARTICLE XI:

Non-specified cases not covered by these regulations will be considered directly by the festival organizers in compliance with the regulations of an international festival.
