Submissions for this year’s selection in the short film competition program have officially begun and will last until May 18. The selection includes films from all over the world, with special benefits for local and regional filmmakers.
Cinehill Motovun Film Festival is one of the most popular film events in Croatia and the best-known film festivals of Southeast Europe devoted to international arthouse films. The aim of the Festival is to reflect diversity – visual and geographical.
Over the past two decades, Festival has been perceived as one of the first Croatian windows to independent European film as well as a festival with a “statement“ – programs and films often promote social values and tackle contemporary controversies.
Since 2019, the Festival’s Short Film Program has joined the EFA partner festivals network, which qualifies the winner as a candidate for the European Film Award in the Short Film category. Cinehill MFF presents 25 short films up to 20 minutes, with more than 100 features and short films screened during the Festival.
In addition to being a candidate for the European Film Award in the short film category, the winner also wins a cash prize of €1,000. The competition is open to the international selection of feature, documentary and animated films up to 20 minutes in length, produced after January 1, 2023, with a requirement for a Croatian premiere screening of the film.
As part of its efforts to promote national and regional films and authors, Motovun Film Festival waives the submission fees for the films from Croatia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia, provided they are submitted by April 24.
Motovun Film Festival does not accept submissions of feature-length films. Acceptance into this competition program is by invitation only.
Submissions can be sent until May 18 via the FilmFreeway
