In a remote Alpine village, the still young love of Anna and Marco is put to a test. Marco is an outsider from the flatlands hired by the mountain farmers to work the rugged land. When he gets ill, tension rises in the community. Far away from the scenic postcard of the Swiss Alps, A Piece of Sky tells a story about a harsh and brutal life on the mountains. Filmed in long, beautiful shots, a cast of non- professional actors shines next to a grand choreographed choir that structures the film. A Piece of Sky won a Special Mention at 2022 Berlinale, which is Michael Koch’s second honourable mention at this festival after his graduation short, Polar, in 2009.
