As in his previous film Zoology about a woman with a tail, director Tverdovskiy examines the life of a lonely individual who has been unable to fully integrate into society. A Russian teen Denis lives in an orphanage where he and his friends play at testing how much pain he can withstand, and Denis just happens to have an almost supe rhuman resistance to pain. One day, to Denis’ delight, his mother Oksana appears out of nowhere to take him out of the orphanage to live with her after abandoning him when he was in infant . Denis, however, has no idea of the heavy price to be paid for his mother’s favour. A fascinating ride into the ethos of contemporary Russian society, Jumpman is a film about an anti-superhero who can’t change the world.
