Laureled with a number of festival awards, including the one for Best First Film at Berlinale, this film tells us about the life of young immigrants in the gap between modernity and tradition. Oray strives to be a better person, but his dream of being a good Muslim and a perfect husband is suddenly shattered when, while arguing, he utters three times the Islamic formula for divorce. Filled with remorse, he consults the imam, who orders that Oray and his should split up for three months. Our hero uses this forced break to move to Cologne and start a new life. But the imam in his new community holds a more austere opinion about the Islamic law and insists that they divorce. Oray is torn between his love of his beliefs and his belief in love.
