Starting out as an aggressive delinquent, a young man nicknamed Rhino works his way up the criminal hierarchy in the 1990’s Ukraine. But navigating through post- Soviet times in a cutthroat society does not come without sacrifices. With nothing left to lose, will he finally find a chance at redemption? Director Oleh Sentsov was arrested during the 2014 annexation of Crimea and unlawfully sentenced to 20 years imprisonment. While in prison, he received the European Parliament Sakharov Prize
for Freedom of Thought, and co-directed a feature film Numbers. He was released in 2019, as part of an exchange deal between Russia and Ukraine. Rhino premiered in Venice, Orizzonti Competition, in 2021.
