From Yoga to Horror Musical — Friday at Petehovac

On the penultimate day at Petehovac, we continue with the forest-themed program, starting with morning yoga at the Snow-sledding slope at 10:00 AM. Under the guidance of dance artist Koraljka Begović, recuperate from last night’s dancing under the gentle sun, fresh air, and with a beautiful view from the Snow-sledding slope.

If you’d prefer to wake up to a good movie, Dudes: Again!, the sequel to the cult classic Dudes from 2001, will be playing in the Francis Ford Kupola at 10:00 AM. Pop and Mare still live the same way, while the world moves on without them. Stirred from their stagnant everyday life, they embark on a journey to Austria to try and pursue the life they left behind.

At the Campus, in collaboration with the Croatian Society of Film Workers, at the Hunting Lodge in Delnice, we will be screening student films from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade and VERN University in Zagreb at 11:00 AM.

Gorski Kotar is host to numerous Slavic myths and legends. If you want to learn more about the mythical beings that roam this region, join us at the Snow-sledding slope at 11:30 AM for the Walking Tour with Mythical Creatures led by the renowned animator and author, Zdenko Bašić.

At 12 PM in the Francis Ford Kupola, catch Paloma, a romantic tale of a transgender woman in search of self-determination, directed by Brazilian filmmaker Marcelo Gomes.

We have prepared a relaxing mountain coffee at 12:30 at CineChill, where you can listen to a conversation with Robert Zuber and festival guests.

The Balkan stand-up legend Peđa Bajović will perform at the Devil’s Garden at 15:00 PM.

The film Carbide, the latest work of our acting titan Zdenko Jelčić, will be screened at the Francis Ford Kupola cinema at 2:00 PM. The movie follows the story of twelve-year-olds Nikola and Antonio, who are inseparable neighbours, much to the dismay of their feuding families. The film had its premiere at the prestigious San Sebastián International Film Festival.

Today’s screenings continue at 4:00 PM in the Kupola with Bitch, a Derogatory Term for a Woman, a comedy by Slovenian director Tijana Zijanić, who is also a member of this year’s main jury. The film revolves around the painter Eva and her friends, who find themselves at the crossroads of ideals, dreams, and real life. They contemplate their way out – whether it’s through partying, fighting for life in their own city, or moving to Berlin.

The conversation with the legend of Croatian cinema, Zdenko Jelčić, will take place at CineChill at 5:00 PM. With his half-century-long career, he has significantly shaped Croatian cinema, and we will delve into all the intriguing aspects of his extensive journey through our discussion.

At 6:00 PM, the Francis Ford Kupola will first host the short film Little Waves,  a metaphysical life meditation by director Filip Peruzović, followed by Silver Haze by Dutch director Sache Polak. The film revolves around 23-year-old Franky, a medical nurse who struggles to form meaningful connections until she falls in love with her patient, Florence. This film has been awarded the Teddy Award at the Berlinale.

We offer haircuts for the bravehearts at Krešo Golik Square at 6:30 PM ahead of the hairdresser crime drama Medusa Deluxe. The service is provided by the specialist of quirky hairstyles, Damjana Darišić, but under the condition that you completely surrender the choice of hairstyle to our hairdresser’s scissors.

After the brave haircut, join us at Vidikovac at 7:30 PM for a tasting of Kvarner wines made from autochthonous grape varieties, brought to you by the Kvarner Wines association and the Kvarner Tourist Board.

At 9:00 PM at the Snow-sledding slope, we will screen the new film Blaga’s Lessons by Bulgarian director Stephan Komandarev. When a retired teacher becomes a victim of a phone scam, she loses her life savings and all hope of ever seeing her hard-earned money again. However, she then receives a tempting but suspicious job offer.

The super fun cover band 4head will perform at Krešo Golik Square at 11:30 PM, and we’ll conclude today’s program at the Snow-sledding slope with a screening of the cult horror musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show at 1:30 AM. The film initially didn’t find success with audiences or critics, but over the years, it has gained a cult following.

NOTE: The guided hiking tour Face to Beak with Birds of Prey which was scheduled to take place at 6:30 PM at the Snow-sledding slope has unfortunately been cancelled for today.
