When daily heat retreats, giving way to a summer night, staying outdoors is a must and watching a film under a starry sky is something special. The screening of Another Round before a packed audience in Degrassi Square in Vrsar marked the beginning of yet another cycle of Cinema Istria outdoor summer screenings. In addition to regular screenings, there will also be many treats on special locations in various Istrian towns.
The program My Favorite Film, in which acclaimed public persons pick out their favorite films and attend these screenings, begins this week. This Friday, in Višnjan, our special guest will be acclaimed Croatian astronomer and scientist Korado Korlević. He will present his favorite animated film Porco Rosso by Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.
There will be surprises, too, such as the screening of Felini 101, marking the 101st anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, Federico Fellini. Our intriguing new program, Vineyard Cinema, combines the cinematic and wine-tasting experiences. As for Live Cinema program, its screenings will be accompanied by live music. The details about these programs will be announced soon.
“We want to use this improved pandemic situation and the upcoming summer season to prepare special treats for film lovers in Istria. We are happy to announce that these screenings will be taking place on special places – in old fortifications, vineyards, historical cores of cities… – so that the exceptional films we have prepared can be screened on the most beautiful locations,” said Motovun Film Festival director Igor Mirković.
All these events will be a great introduction to Motovun Film Festival which is back again, in full splendor and full of surprises, taking place from 27 to 31 July.
