Motovun Film Festival has always been a friend to brave individuals

Motovun Film Festival has always been a friend to brave individuals who step out from conventions and into the space of freedom and critical reflections manifested in their art, never lacking involvement and always trying to change the world. This year, Motovun Film Festival will present two international attractions that provoke public opinion and never stop attracting media attention: Pussy Riot and Fu*k For Forest.

It is hardly possible to say something new about Russian punk-rock group Pussy Riot: they are musicians, artists and activists whose public performances and actions have been attracting huge media attention from their beginnings. The public interest for them culminated when a few of their members were arrested after a provocative performance in Moscow's central church, deeply disturbing Russian political and clerical authorities and becoming heroes of the fight for freedom of thought and expression. What is perhaps not known about them (or what is not talked about) can be found in the documentary film A Punk Prayer. We are particularly happy to announce that the film will be shown as part of the 16th Motovun Film Festival and that its director, Mike Lerner, will be our guest.

We can also proudly announce yet another world-wide known controversial group – Fu*k For Forest, a non-profit environmental-cinematic organisation which – to cut the long story short – sell sex videos to save forests. The activities of Fu*k For Forest are based on the premise that sex can save the world. Available on their web site are photographs and video clips of sex of the group's members and sympathizers. You can see them if you pay the membership fee. The money collected this way is then donated to organisations fighting for preservation of forests around the world. FFF is a unique phenomenon in the world that provokes strong reactions, from absolute support to lack of understanding and sharp criticism. We are sure they will provoke strong reactions at Motovun Film Festival, too, when they present their film here.

Let us emigrate together to Film Hill, let us fly to heaven on the wings of MFF, into a better and brighter reality!
