Motovun Film Festival is inviting submissions for its short-film program. Eligible for submission are the films of up to twenty minutes of running time that had their world premiere in 2020 or 2021, provided they did not have their Croatian premiere. Our programmer will select twenty-five films to be shown as part of the festival’s competition program Motovun Shorts. The winning film will compete for a European Film Award.
Submissions can be sent via FilmFreeway.com or ShortFilmDepot.com platforms and the deadline is 5 June.
As part of its efforts to promote national and regional films and authors, Motovun Film Festival waives the submission fees for the films from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia – the deadline is 15 May.
Despite the pandemic, Motovun Film Festival did take place last year, albeit tailored to fit the circumstances. There were screenings with audiences, including the screenings of all the Motovun Shorts films in Zagreb. Our international jury selected the best film. The last year’s winner of Motovun Shorts program was To the Dusty Sea by Héloïse Ferlay (France).
Motovun Film Festival does not accept submissions of feature-length films. Acceptance into this competition program is by invitation only.
Hoping that favorable conditions will prevail in the last week of July (27-31 July) – when the festival normally takes place – we have started preparations for it. See you on Film Hill!
