Motovun Film Festival is inviting submissions for its short-film program. Eligible for submission are the films of up to twenty minutes of running time that had their world premiere in 2021 or 2022, provided they did not have their Croatian premiere. Our programmers will select twenty-five films to be shown as part of the festival’s competition program Motovun Shorts. The winning film will not only receive a EUR 1,000 reward but will also compete for the European Film Award.
In order to contribute to the promotion of Croatian filmmakers, particularly in the times when theatrical release is hard to get, our festival has introduced an award for Croatian authors only – CORTO MONTONESE. The festival will offer the amount of HRK 5,000 to the author and producer of the best Croatian film in the short film program to buy the rights for its limited theatrical release. All the films of Croatian producers and/or authors shown in the Motovun Shorts competition program will be eligible for this award.
Submissions can be sent via FilmFreeway.com platform and the deadline is May 25.
As part of its efforts to promote national and regional films and authors, Motovun Film Festival waives the submission fees for the films from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia, provided they are submitted by May 1.
Despite the pandemic-related restrictions, Motovun Film Festival will have live events and screenings on big screens in Motovun and partner cities throughout Croatia.
Motovun Film Festival does not accept submissions of feature-length films. Acceptance into this competition program is by invitation only.
See you on Film Hill!
