The most successful Croatian film this season – the winner of Jury Award in the Un Certain Regard program in Cannes – will be shown at this year's edition of Motovun Film Festival. It makes us truly happy because we will have an opportunity to celebrate the success of our old friends. Dalibor Matanić was a member of the team who launched the festival in 1999 and is one of the authors of our festival trailer. No other filmmaker has had so many films shown in Motovun as Matanić: we saw his Fine Dead Girls, 100 Minutes of Glory, I Love You, Mother Of Asphalt and documentaries Bag and Good Luck (co-directed with Stanislav Tomić and Tomislav Rukavina). He was also our tireless DJ during the first decade of the festival. The High Sun's lead actress Tihana Lazović also boasts a "Motovun history": in 2011 she was our festival crew member and worked at the box office as a dedicated volunteer.
The High Sun is a film about forbidden love, about its fragility and its strength. The story spans three decades and takes place in two neighboring villages sharing a history of mutual conflicts and intolerance.
