The “Žaba” Cultural Center in Lokve was nearly filled to capacity on Tuesday evening, just before the start of the Gorski Kotar segment of the Cinehill Motovun Film Festival. The screening of an episode from the series “Kapelski kresovi” evoked nostalgia among Lokve’s residents, especially the older ones, who remember the filming of this popular series in Gorski Kotar.
The series is based on Veljko Kovačević’s novel and follows events in Gorski Kotar and the Croatian Primorje during World War II, depicting poorly armed groups of partisans resisting the Italian occupiers.
Actor Zdenko Jelčić, who played the role of Commander Ljubo in the series, attended the screening and later engaged in a conversation with the audience. On Friday, Zdenko Jelčić will be honored with an award for his 50 years of contribution to the film industry at Petehovac.
