RARE BEASTS (87')

Mandy is a single mother, writer and proud nihilist. This modern woman in crisis writes about love, but her own romantic views are soaked in cinicism because her writing is affected by the divorce of her parents, Marion (Kerry Fox – An Angle at My Table, Shallow Grave) and Vic (David Thewlis – Harry Potter series, I’m Thinking of Ending Things). When she meets Pete, a sarcastic and sometimes misogynistic man, Mandy should, logically, run like hell. Rare Beasts is a challenging anti-romantic comedy by popular British actress/singer Billie Piper. It is a sharp analysis of the complex relationship between the ideals of modern feminism and the reality of romantic relationships. The film premiered at Venice International Film Critics’ Week.
